Laughlin is a smaller and more family oriented version of Las Vegas located on the Colorado River 90 miles south of Vegas at the southern most tip of Nevada bordering both California and Arizona. Because of its waterfront positioning at the tri-state juncture, it supports a wide variety of water sports and activities from all 3 states, that Las Vegas does not.
Although Laughlin has less than a dozen resorts, hotels and casinos and receives a small fraction of the visitors that Las Vegas does, it still attracts approximately 2 million tourists annually who come to enjoy the scenic pedestrian Riverwalk, beaches, water taxi’s, dinner cruises, jet skiing, river rafting and kayaking.
Every August Laughlin hosts the Annual River Regatta where tens of thousands of participants float in tubes on the Colorado River for 13 miles. And New Year’s Eve in Laughlin makes for an interesting celebration as you can ring in the new year in the neighboring Bull Head City, AZ in Mountain Standard Time Zone and then cross over the bridge into Laughlin and celebrate the New Year again an hour later in Pacific Standard Time Zone.
